About The Cycle Seen

Welcome to The Cycle Seen! Not just a cycling website, but a state of mind.

The Cycle Seen is a gawk into the life of one average amateur cycling hobbyist who rides and races for fun and spends some time indulging in armchair expertise by watching the little stickmen on the television. Hence, my own cycle, or the wider cycle scene, as seen by me.

For more on what exactly you’ll find around here you can read The Cycle Seen’s statement of intent here.

About me

I was born, raised, and introduced to the sport of cycling in that bicycling hotbed of Bangor, Northern Ireland. I grew up riding, racing and touring on both road and mountain bikes through my childhood, teenage years and into my 20′s at which point I accepted my fate as a recreational cyclist and not one destined to pull on the yellow jersey of the Tour de France, except before heading out on an afternoons spin, of course. I moved to Canada in the summer of 2008 and one item that on the luggage list was my road bike. In September 2011 I realised a multi-year goal of purchasing a new mountain bike in the hopes of getting back into the racing scene once more. When I’m not riding a bike or writing about it I am an avid fan of almost every other sport and writing about that as well.
